ICT is more important to be used in schools , it helps students to learn to operate in an information age .The major barriers i ICT intergration in schools of south Africa is the lack of confidence,lack of competence ,and also lack of acces to resources. Since confidence ,competence,and accessebility have been found to be critical components of technology intergration in school.

Several studies have divided the barriers into groups there is a extrinsic and intrisinc barriers ,in extrinsic barriers as first-order and cited access,time support,resourcesand training and intrinsic barriers  as second -order and cited attitudes,beliefs,practices and resistance.Another perspective presents the obtaclesas pertaining to two kinds of conditions material and non-material.The material condition may be due to a sufficient number of computers or copies of software .The non-material may include teachers insufficient ICT knowledge and skils and insufficient tearcher time.Some of the studies look at the barriers at teacher institution or system level. Lack of teacher confidence prevent teachers from using ICT in their teaching ,the reason for lack of confidence to teachers  is the fear of failure.

Resistance to change and negative attitude is another barrier to ICT intergration and lack of teacher competence ,lack of time.Several studies indicate many teachers has competence ,and confidence in using computers in the classroomsbut they still make a little use of technology because they do not have enough time ,difficulty in scheduling enough time for computer classes.In becta study he found that the problem of lack of time exist for teachers in many aspects of their work as its affects their ability to complete tasks ,with some of the participants teachers specifically stating which aspects of ICT require more time ,this include the time to prepare lessons ,to local internet advice,explore  also practising using the technology ,deal wit technical problems ,and recieve adequate training.
